About Us

ADD-vance is a dedicated group of professionals, who also happen to be parents of children affected by ADHD and/ or Autism. Our mission is to support the families of children affected by these conditions and the professionals involved in their care. We want to increase understanding, provide support and change perceptions of these complex neurological conditions, so as to improve the wellbeing and reduce the social isolation of these young people and their families.

What is ADD-vance?

ADD-vance is now a registered charity with a team of over 20 dedicated trainers, coaches, admin staff and volunteers. ADD-vance was set up in Hertfordshire in 1996 as a constituted voluntary organisation by our current Director Anne Ross. Anne, a parent of children affected by ADHD and Autism, found little support for mums like her so resolved to fix the situation. ADD-vance started as a telephone helpdesk in Anne’s home and grew to include support groups, training and coaching. In 2013 we registered as a charity. Today we have a small office in Hatfield and in the financial year 2016-17 over 4,800 stakeholders accessed our services.

ADD-vance receives no regular statutory funding to cover our services or core costs so we are dependant on the work of our amazing members to raise funds. Unsurprisingly, donations are of enormous value to us. Even if you can only afford a few pounds, we would very much appreciate your support. Please click here if you are able to support us with a small donation.

Our Ethos:

  • At ADD-vance we listen.
  • At ADD-vance we are non-judgmental.
  • At ADD-vance we give strategies, support and information.
  • At ADD-vance we provide a confidential, safe and friendly atmosphere where parents can speak freely (often for the first time) about their child/family issues.
  • At ADD-vance we give space for emotions.

Our services include:
